Specific Skills
  • To hold appropriate qualifications for the post - as a minimum Level III Early Years qualification.
  • To be able to communicate effectively, give support to other members of the team and to be a good team player
  • To be able to work on own initiative
  • To support the nursery as an ambassador
  • To be ready to learn and improve skill level
  • To hold a 12 hour paediatric first aid certificate - not essential as training would be given.
  • To hold a food hygiene certificate - not essential as training would be given.

Specific Responsibilities
  • To manage and be responsible for the day to day running of the nursery to ensure a safe and efficient Day Nursery.
  • To implement the daily routine
  • To be responsible for the staff and children in their care at all times, ensuring a high standard of physical, intellectual, emotional and social care and development of all children
  • To ensure appropriate heads of staff prepare and run activities for small groups of children on a daily basis and to give advice on the same to other members of staff if and when necessary, e.g. young staff or students
  • To ensure the safety and hygiene of all equipment, repairs or replacement as necessary
  • In formulate, operate and evaluate a yearly programme of activities, following the guidelines of the foundation stage curriculum, that is suitable to the age range of the children
  • To promote equal opportunities throughout the nursery
  • To work alongside parents of children with special educational needs to achieve full integration with the nursery
  • To liaise with and support parents
  • To give support to team members with the nursery and engage in good staff morale
  • To liaise with the local authorities and other professionals associated with the nursery
  • Prepare and carry out children’s developmental records and observations
  • To attend monthly staff meetings and training sessions outside working hours
  • Other duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the nursery
  • To ensure the owner is appropriately updated on matters relating to the nursery
  • To ensure that all staff members are familiar with policies and procedures, and they are adhered to at all times.

Opening Times : 51 weeks per year (closed Christmas week) : 07.30 – 18.00 daily
Holiday Entitlement : 28 days which includes the bank holidays
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £19,000.00 to £25,000.00 per year
